Peerutin Architects
Peerutin was founded in 1997, by brothers, Simmy and David Peerutin, upon their return to Cape Town, South Africa after a decade spent abroad.
David had gained valuable experience at New York firm, Gensler, working in corporate space planning and interiors. Simmy had been an Associate at Shephard Robson, one of the United Kingdom’s largest commercial practices, specializing in health care and public buildings.
From the early years of the practice, Simmy has always brought his clear focus to its culture of disciplined management and strategic planning. This commitment has always underpinned Peerutin’s renowned work ethic, allowing David to express his design vision more clearly.
This balance between excellent management and excellent design has, from the very beginning, been applied to all projects, from residential alterations, to large scale residential and corporate developments.
Over the years, Peerutin has built a solid reputation for delivering quality designs through a well-managed practice structure. A key driver of Peerutin’s continued success in the industry is the practice’s commitment to passing on these values to all the architects, technicians and support staff on the Peerutin team.
In 2014, Peerutin embarked on a journey towards greater excellence, through a process of introspection and evaluation, Peerutin Rebooted.
During this process, the practice’s strengths and weaknesses were examined and a pathway to improving those standards even further, was identified.
As a crucial part of this strategy, longstanding associates, Tarryn Cohen and Francois Hugo became equity partners and Lance Muller and Henning van As were promoted to associates.
Currently the team at Peerutin consists of 12 architects and technicians all equally committed to producing excellence in contemporary architecture.
With these appointments, Peerutin has reinvented the methodology we apply to all projects, to better utilize the individual strength of each senior member:
Simmy and Tarryn are tasked with strategizing and managing all aspects of the practice and the projects. Francois mentors the team on all project-related technical issues. IT management for hardware, software and all BIM standards are handled by Lance, all design is crafted by David and Henning.
Our aim is to bring together beautiful architectural design that surpasses the needs of our clients, delivered on time and on budget. We pride ourselves on our comprehensive professional service, offering excellence at every stage of the design and construction process.
Most of Peerutin’s residential projects are situated on Cape Town’s prestigious Atlantic Seaboard, but we have also built luxury homes as far afield as Nigeria.
We have worked on commercial projects all over the world, from Namibia, The United Kingdom and The Middle East. Our portfolio here and abroad includes high-end residential buildings, transport hubs, office buildings, hotels, apartment blocks, mixed-use developments, light industrial developments and health care projects.
